In 5 years, police handed out $4M in jaywalking fines

The Hawaiʻi Appleseed Center for Law & Economic Justice released a report Wednesday saying that in the last five years, police issued nearly $4 million in jaywalking fines.

But only a fourth of those fines—less than $900,000—were paid.

The measure now goes to the House.
