DATA AND RESEARCH: Conduct research designed to effectively contribute to public policy discussions that focus on serving Hawaiʻi’s low-income and working families.
COALITION BUILDING: Work closely with members of our coalitions and share responsibility to advance a proactive agenda that benefits Hawaiʻi’s families. We hold leadership roles and take part in the following coalitions: Hawaiʻi Housing Affordability Coalition, Hawaiʻi Hunger Action Network, the Hawaiʻi Tax Fairness Coalition, and Partners In Care.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Build relationships with partners that are closely connected to the community so that we can better align our work with community needs and interests, lend support and resources, and work collaboratively toward advancing those interests. We strive to collaborate with community leaders with lived experience in our issue areas so we can support their efforts in driving forward policy and systems change.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION: Present information through media and other communications channels that helps to foster understanding, build trust, persuade stakeholders and decision makers, and mobilize support for systems change that benefits Hawaiʻi’s families.
LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY: Work with lawmakers to propose and support policies that prioritize the needs of Hawaiʻi’s low-income and working families. We strive to support other stakeholders in informing policy by sharing resources and expertise to help them engage in and navigate the policy-making process.
