WAM sends minimum wage bill to Senate
The Hawaiʻi State Senate’s Committee on Ways and Means (WAM) passed Senate Bill 789 on Monday, February 25, 2019, setting it up for a final vote on the Senate floor.
The bill would raise Hawaiʻi’s minimum wage to $12 per hour on January 1, 2020, then to $15 per hour on January 1, 2023.
Supporters of the bill include the Hawaiʻi Alliance for Community-Based Economic Development, Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi, ILWU Local 142, the League of Women Voters of Hawaii, the Hawaii State Teachers Association, the Hawaiʻi Appleseed Center for Law & Economic Justice and the Hawaii Government Employees Association.
